Hotel chains like Hilton Hotels and Resorts are using video content to push their direct bookings. In a recent campaign Hilton gives its website visitors a flavour of what is like to stay in their hotels.
Tips for smaller hotels
If you are a hotel owner, consider making a short virtual tour to be uploaded to your website. Video content on your website or facebook page encourages people to stay longer. It also makes your site more visible to search engines such as Google that rank video above other content.
Tell your story
When adding video, you are telling your story so it is important to plan what you want to show. A good story draws viewers into your offer. Map out the shots of the parts of your hotel you want to feature. If you have a spa or other health facilities, feature the benefits of relaxation and tranquility. If you are near stunning countryside, show how walkers use your hotel as a base. If you have a top chef, major on aspects of your menu that will pull in the foodies.
To ensure that your video looks professional, use good lighting and pay attention to the sound. If you are using music, make sure that you have the right permissions to use it. Putting your favourite Adele song on the soundtrack will not go down well!
Promote, promote, promote
When the video is complete, upload it to your website. Don’t forget to promote it on all the social media platforms to increase followers and likes.
